On The Day – FAQs

Quick Summary

  • Start: 08:00 mass start
  • HQ / Registration: St Michael’s Parish Church, Mytholmroyd (HX7 5DS)

CRITICAL HQ RULE: NO NUTS INSIDE HQ (severe allergy).

Parking (IMPORTANT)

DO NOT PARK at St Michael’s Church. There is no parking available there for entrants.

  • Caldene Avenue car park
  • Hebden Bridge town centre car parks
  • Other legal, considerate parking (do not block drives, junctions or emergency access)

Please keep noise down early morning and respect local residents.

Registration & timings

  • Arrive early enough to park, walk to HQ and register.
  • If you are not starting / withdrawing, tell HQ so we can update the safety list.
  • Start: 08:00 mass start.
  • On return, you must report in at HQ so we know you are safely back.

Kit & safety

There is no formal kit check, however entrants are expected to be appropriately equipped for winter fell conditions.

We recommend following the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit guidance.

  • Waterproof whole body cover (taped seams + integrated hood)
  • Hat and gloves
  • Map (physical) and compass (traditional, non-electronic)
  • Whistle
  • Emergency food

Checkpoints & food

Staffed checkpoints are there for safety and support. Please follow instructions and move through promptly.

Halfway checkpoint

  • Water
  • Sweets
  • Sandwiches

HQ

Food is provided at HQ before and after the event.

ABSOLUTE RULE: No nuts inside HQ

We have a volunteer with a severe nut allergy. There must be no nuts of any kind inside Event HQ.

This includes nut snacks, protein bars containing nuts, nut butters, nut mixes, and anything containing nuts. Please check ingredients.

Withdrawals

  1. Tell a marshal/checkpoint team as soon as possible.
  2. Return to HQ by the safest route available.
  3. Report to HQ so we can mark you safely returned.

Emergencies

  • If someone is in difficulty: keep them warm and safe.
  • Alert the nearest checkpoint / marshal / event team.
  • If urgent, call emergency services and then inform the event team.

Respect the fells

  • Carry litter to the next checkpoint / back to HQ.
  • Be courteous to other path users.
  • Follow signage and marshal instructions.
